Exploring new opportunities in marketing leadership

Have you ever had a mentor? How did that person help you most?

Yes a few formal and informal. By creating a safe space for honest conversation and supporting me through my good times and bad.

Why did you join the TRUST? What keeps you involved as a TRUST member?

The organization came highly recommended to me by a few of its members and as I was pivoting into health care, I wanted to expand my network and industry knowledge. Since being a member, I appreciate the more substantive connections and relationships I've been able to build.

What support do you need now to evolve your development as a leader?

Especially now being in job transition it is about being vulnerable and putting myself out there to make more connections and find new opportunities!

How do you want to support other women in their leadership journey?

Helping them lead with authenticity, whether that is in how they show up today in their organization or whether that is identifying the path that allows them to lean into their strengths, interests and values.

Who inspires you?

Brene Brown's work has been an inspiration for me on many levels. I appreciate the conversation she has amplified giving us all permission to live authentically. And with that I am also inspired by others who live this way and are true to themselves.

What is something that not many people know about you?

I have two that come to mind. One, I was bit by a rabid skunk as a kid. Two, my grandma is one of 19 and my mom one of 12 (German Catholic farmers, of course). We have family reunions every four years that are basically a festival with hundreds of people attending in rural central Minnesota.

Any words of wisdom to live by?

I have a couple of Brene Brown quotes that are a constant practice for me and I believe for the majority of us Minnesotans. I also think it is apropos for this organization for our reason for coming together and being involved.

  • "Staying vulnerable is a risk we have to take if we want to experience connection.”
  • "Connection is why we’re here; it is what gives purpose and meaning to our lives.”
