Rajni Shah has worked with MyMeds for nine years, where she currently serves as Head of Partnerships. Her primary role is to work with external customers and partners; however, as anyone who has worked at a small startup knows, she wears several hats on any given day.

When and why did you join the Women’s Health Leadership TRUST?

I joined the Women’s Health Leadership TRUST four years ago. I was first introduced to the TRUST by a dear friend and longtime member. I had shared with her my frustration of not having a network of like-minded women, especially in the med tech space, to lean on and learn from. She immediately introduced me to the TRUST.

What role(s) do you currently hold with the Women’s Health Leadership TRUST?

I currently serve on the TRUST Board and its Programming committee. In addition, I’m helping to create our new Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee.

Do you have a favorite TRUST memory so far?

I recently had the opportunity to moderate a TRUST event with three amazing women (Angel Uddin, Jackie Thomas Hall and Ana Nunez) for Real Talk: Moving Diversity and Inclusion from a Discussion to an Action in Your Organization. I had so much fun learning from and getting to know these three dynamic leaders. It was also wonderful to see how much the audience related to the topic and speakers.

How has a mentor helped you the most?

I have had several mentors who have helped me navigate different points in my life. The most important thing I have learned from all of them is the power of confidence in myself and what I can achieve.

What is the best career advice you've received?

Be confident in yourself but always be humble.

What support do you need now to evolve your development as a leader?

As I continue my leadership journey, I need support in strengthening my network and means to continue my learning in technology and health care.

How do you support other women in their leadership journey?

I think the most important support I provide other women is to be present, listen and provide access to my networks.

How do you cope with demanding aspects of your career and incorporate wellness into your day?

I am not sure what I would do without the support of my family and friends. I have learned that it is okay not to have every part of my life under control, and it is okay to ask for help.

To incorporate wellness into my day, I schedule 30 minutes daily to put my computer and phone away during the workday. During this time, I go for a walk or close my eyes and relax.

Who or what inspires you?

Nelson Mandela inspires me. One of his quotes is my favorite: “If you want the cooperation of humans around you, you must make them feel they are important – and you do that by being genuine and humble.”

What is something that not many people know about you?

I was born and raised in Southern Africa, and I love snakes.
