Thankful for Today, Hopeful for Tomorrow

I hope this message finds you all well. It has now been about three months since COVID-19 upended so many things about the world we knew. And although the journey thus far has not been easy, I find there are many things to be hopeful about and thankful for.

I’m hopeful that all we’ve learned about COVID-19 will ultimately save lives and drive needed fundamental changes in the healthcare ecosystem. I’m hopeful for the work continuing at a swift pace to find a vaccine. I’m hopeful furloughed health care workers and across all industries will soon be back to work. And I’m hopeful for stronger bonds being formed within families as well as with friends, colleagues and previously conflicted groups.

And I’m hopeful because of all of you – more than 500 members of the Women’s Health Leadership TRUST. You’re all doing amazing things under extraordinary circumstances. You’re saving lives and, during the darkest of days, you’re providing comfort to families experiencing loss. I hear from so many who are taking the time to prioritize their health and are recommitting to family. And you’re giving a lot of grace along the way knowing that although we’re all in this together, we’re also all in different stages of our collective journey.

The Atlantic publication had an article about hope and how we care for one another. The author describes how his partner makes note of signs of hope he sees. He calls these signs of hope “seedlings.” I love that vision of hope seedlings taking root and growing stronger, and it especially resonates this time of year.

I hope in some small way the TRUST can be a hope seedling for you, whether to help you connect, be more mindful or to keep learning. We’re offering a number of virtual happy hour networking sessions as well as educational programming for professional and personal growth. Please reach out and share your thoughts on additional topics and speakers the TRUST can offer for virtual programming. Your feedback can make us all stronger!

Wow, that was a lot of HOPE in those five paragraphs – time to switch back to being thankful! I’m so thankful for all of you. It can be tough to get involved as a member in a normal situation, and as we know, 2020 is no normal year. We are incredibly grateful for those who joined the TRUST recently and to those who have renewed. Together, our membership makes us strong!

I’m thankful for our speakers and virtual session leaders who have taken on the extra work with aplomb. We have maxed out attendance in several of our virtual sessions – it’s great to you are finding value in these topics and also as a way to connect with fellow TRUST members.

I’m also thankful for our TRUST board members and committee members, who invest so much of their time to sustaining and evolving the TRUST, to ensure we are delivering value to our members and staying true to our mission and core value pillars.

There’s so much to be thankful for today and hopeful for tomorrow. Start every day with new hope. Look for and nurture the hope seedlings you see. Today’s small sprout can be tomorrow’s strong and vibrant garden because when we support one another, incredible things happen. Enjoy the early days of summer!
