Mentoring finds us all at different times. We may first experience it in high school or college. Mentoring may find us in out career as a leader or colleague takes us under their wings we can even experience reverse mentoring when someone younger guides us with new skills and knowledge. Mentoring is deeply valuable to us all throughout our lifetimes.

I have both mentored and been mentored, and through my involvement, I gained a stronger commitment to my profession with clearer eyes on the road ahead. Those mentoring relationships have come in many forms, informal and formal, internal and external, within and across industry, a close friend or family member, and supportive and inspirational leaders. My experiences with mentoring shape the multitude of personal and professional relationships I have. New knowledge, skills, perspectives and networks we develop have a way of strengthening those around us as well. Mentoring is a gift that keeps giving and helps others rise!

The Women’s Health Leadership TRUST IMPACT Mentorship Program is underway and we’ve been hearing excellent feedback as participants enhance their leadership skills. These women are taking the lead to advance the health care careers of women in our industry.

We will continue to share stories of mentoring and the IMPACT Mentoring Program throughout the year. I hope you will consider participating in this informative program next year. It is a powerful journey for mentees and mentors alike as they broaden industry perspectives, strengthen networks and deepen leadership skills. Learn more about the IMPACT Mentoring Program here. It’s not too early to consider participating in the 2021 cohort!
