Fall 2004 - A letter from the President
Dear Fellow TRUST members,
As the fall leaves have been unveiling their brilliant colors, I have been reflecting on this exciting year for the TRUST as we celebrate our 25th Anniversary! In order to acknowledge the significance of this occasion, our Board has chosen the theme Creating a Legacy.
When the 1115 Club was first formed back in the fall of 1979, I wonder if those wise women imagined the club continuing into the new millennium as a healthy and thriving organization? They were, in essence, creating a legacy. As your new president, I am truly honored to participate in the leadership and legacy of the TRUST. You have elected another board of energetic, fun and talented women who are busy with exciting plans for this year.
Speaking of talented women, I happened to read a recent issue of Minnesota Physician, which featured 100 of Minnesota’s influential health care leaders. Congratulations to six of our TRUST members who were honored! Our members included: Mary Brainerd, Julie Brunner, Nancy Feldman, Gloria Lewis, Margaret Perryman and Patricia Riley. Each honoree contributed their perspectives on current challenges in health care.
Some of the key themes from our six members included balancing cost and quality, safety, cost shifting to the individual, and multiple issues related to diversity. These are just a few of the topics we will be talking about this year, beginning with Thursday, October 21st as we have our fall "Kick-Off" meeting. Barbara Balik and Julie Brunner will be sharing their personal stories and talking about their work related to quality measurement across the health care continuum in our community.
I truly look forward to seeing you during this coming year!
Yours truly,
Lynn Rekvig
