Women's Health Leadership TRUST November 3, 2011
As I have assumed the role of Women's Health Leadership TRUST President, I have experienced a great amount of energy from the TRUST members and Board of Directors whose excitement and dedication to TRUST programs and activities continues to amaze me.
Recently, I attended our September TRUST event, "Considering Executive Leadership," which featured a panel of leaders in our health care community. More than 100 people attended and of those, more than half of attendees were guests. I heard positive feedback from many of you, including Nadine Paitich of HealthEast who noted, "The panel emphasized how powerful building a network among women leaders can be...It reaffirmed the need for all women leaders to be passionate about what we do and how we can make a difference."
The TRUST is already working to plan additional events throughout the year that promote women leaders in health care, provide opportunities for networking among members and guests, and focus on what is important to you:
Monthly Programs: In November, the TRUST Programming Committee will present, Stay Informed: Insights on Health Care Reform. The event will include a panel discussion featuring Ghita Worcester, Matthew Anderson and Mary Gilbert. Additional monthly programs will take place throughout the year, including a presentation by the 2011 Jean Harris Award winners in February and an event focusing on personal wellness in resiliency in March.
Holiday Party: Each year, the TRUST hosts a holiday party to benefit a charity we care about. This year's holiday party will again benefit Go Red For Women and will be held at Blaisdell Manor on Dec. 6 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. During the event, we will hold an auction of gift baskets and other items and proceeds will be donated to Go Red For Women. If you are interested in donating a basket or other item for the auction, please contact Kaye Foley.
The Forum: We are pleased to welcome Teri Fontenot, President and CEO of the Women's Hospital and Chair of the American Hospital Association (AHA), to Minnesota for The Forum on April 10. Each spring, The Forum gives us a chance to gather for great networking, hear an inspirational and knowledgeable speaker, and recognize women leaders in health care through our Trusted Senior Leader Award and Emerging Leader Award.
Annual Meeting: In May, we will have the opportunity to come together and celebrate everything the TRUST Committees and Board of Directors accomplished throughout the year. We will also award the Jean Harris Award to a TRUST member who has made outstanding contributions in health care leadership.
In addition to the programs coming up this year, the TRUST Board of Directors met recently to create our strategic plan for achieving the TRUST's vision, "To create healthier communities by realizing women's leadership potential." The Board Members grounded their strategic planning in the mission of the TRUST, "To advance women leaders in health care," and held a discussion that deepened their commitment and understanding of the vision. The Board is also establishing goals for the next three years and developing an action plan for this coming year.
I look forward to serving as your president over the coming year and, as always, welcome your feedback.
Sincerely,

Carol Kraft, President Women's Health Leadership TRUST |
