Speaker: Dawn Ellison

In her work as a practicing emergency room physician, health care consultant and currently, Provider Engagement Officer at CentraCare Health, Dawn Ellison has a deep understanding of the prevalence of stress and burnout in the healthcare industry. She knows how difficult it can be for women—whether they work in clinical or administrative areas—to find the right balance between their very mentally- and emotionally-demanding professional roles and equally demanding personal lives as a partner/spouse, parent and daughter to aging parents. In this stimulating and interactive seminar, Dr. Ellison will draw upon her extensive experience coaching health care providers and leaders on how to reduce stress and anxiety—and achieve greater levels of balance, personal satisfaction and fulfillment. Most of us know what we need to do to improve our well-being; the tough part is making the changes. Dawn will discuss the factors that drive burnout and help us recognize what aspects we can control and then together we will discover how to make those changes.

Dawn Ellison, MD, FAAEM, CPC, is an ABEM certified Emergency Medicine (EM) physician who has practiced EM for more than 20 years in Minnesota. Dawn was a CRUCIAL CONVERSATIONS instructor with Mayo Health System and has done graduate work in COACHING through the College of Executive Coaching. She is a 2006 BUSH MEDICAL FELLOW and is stewarding Art of Hosting globally. Dawn’s role at CentraCare is to improve the engagement and well-being of the providers. Her approach is to host providers’ voices, helping them connect with patients, colleagues and themselves resulting in a co-creation of space for innovation, collaboration and passion for the caring for patients.
